070811. I had a doctor’s appointment this morning.
And an ultrasound scheduled.
The kind that tells you if the babe has all its parts.
And tells you what parts the babe has (girl parts or boy parts).
And since we were traveling for much of the month of June, this appointment was 2 or 3 weeks later than it would have been if I’d been home.
So I’ve been hearing this a lot:
is it a boy? I bet it’s a boy.
You’re carrying like it’s a boy this time.
Hmmm. Maybe it’s a girl.
And we’d like to know.
We’d like to know the baby has all its parts.
And we’d like to know what parts it has.
So I didn’t sleep much last night. And then woke up super early for my appointment.
Early enough to shower and actually do my hair – which I’m almost embarrassed to say hasn’t been done in months! I even put on a little eye-liner. Stop the train!
Anyway … Sammy came over to watch the LO. And I was out the door with way too much time to spare.
Got to the doctor.
Waited.
Waited.
Waited.
Brought back to the room.
Stood on a scale (gained 22 pounds so far ... in 22 weeks ... not terrible).
Peed in a cup.
Had my blood pressure taken (100 over 50 ... excellently low, without being comatose).
Waited in the room.
Nurse Amber walks in …
“No ultrasound technician today.”
I’m sorry, what?
“I’m sorry, we’re going to have to reschedule. But Dr. Freeman can still sit and chat with you.”
Umm … (If she had taken my blood pressure at this moment it would probably have been higher.)
“We can probably get you in Monday.”
Oh …
“Is that going to be a problem?”
Okay … I mean … if there’s no technician, I guess there’s no technician. Can someone else run the machine?
“No.”
Oh. Okay. Monday.
So … Monday … in the late afternoon.
I love waiting. Good thing I meditate.
Just like the old ketchup commercials...'Anticipation is makin' me wait.' I have a need to know.

I TOTALLY know what you mean (even though I never understood the poor use of English in those ads :)
