on the road ... again

010512.  Remember how I said I was ready for whatever 2012 had to offer?

And I sounded enthusiastic about it?

Well.

I’m still enthusiastic.

But I might not be ready.

Last night we found out the Cowboy’s new job (in New Mexico) starts Monday.

As in … Friday

… Saturday

… Sunday

… Monday. 

We thought we had another week.  So … not a lot of time to pack him up and say goodbye again.

Today we’re on pins and needles as we wait for word on the SuperStepDad’s final procedure with the brain stimulator and learn whether those three radical surgeries where they placed electrodes along his brain stem actually works.  Prayers and hopefulness and excitement … that’s what’s going on in my heart today.

Tomorrow we meet with the owner of a wedding venue we’ve booked for later this year because … yes … we finally decided to tie the proverbial knot.

And then we’ve got until the first of February to get our act together and pack up the Cottage, stage it to sell and get ourselves (and the dogs) on the road for an 18 hour trip to Albuquerque. 

Because we’re not letting the Cowboy go for another 10 month job without us. (This job is only 7 months … but you get the picture).

Also.

I love New Mexico.

I love the sunsets.

I love the wind.

I love the land.

In my opinion, it’s one of the holy places on earth.

It’s where my heart opened up.

It’s where I met and fell in love with the Cowboy.

And I’m thrilled to be able to share the experience with our children, who are blissfully unaware of the adventure on which we are about to embark.

(they might know ... hmmm)
